We’ve announced the best web projects of 2018

On 15 November 2018, the 17th edition of the prestigious WebTop100 competition took place. The best websites and campaigns currently available on the Czech market went head to head. Find out who took home the top prizes.

This year we entered 10 projects. In total, we’ve won 3 medals.

The following projects triumphed:

in the Trade and Services category
for B2B for the Wamag.cz website
  in the Gastronomy category
for the PivovarSvijany.cz website
in the IT category
for the Techsoft.cz website

This year, we focused mainly on technical SEO. All websites therefore load via the HTTPS and HTTP/2 protocols – all websites are encrypted and your communication with them cannot be compromised by hackers. We have also worked on optimising and speeding up image loading. This will be appreciated by search engines and by you when you view our pages on your mobile.

“Competitions like this provide invaluable feedback for our development team. We regularly incorporate tips from the expert judges. It’s another opportunity for us to broaden our horizons. But it also makes sense for our clients who aren’t particularly interested in technology. WebTop100 enjoys considerable publicity and a strong reputation. For them, it’s not only proof that they made the right choice, but it also brings media attention to their brands

,” says AITOM CEO Jakub Provazník.

What made our projects stand out?

Svijany: 2nd place in the Corporate Website/Gastronomy category

“This is pretty much how I imagine a brewery’s website. The site should whet the appetite for beer and tradition, which it certainly does. The brewing process and the beer’s ingredients come across very well – they’re a pleasure to read and look at, and the combination of period and modern elements works really well.” Jakub Jordanidis on the design

“The website probably has the least intrusive form for entering the user’s age. The homepage’s macro photography of hops creates a pleasant atmosphere. The visual impression of the opening graphics is excellent. The chosen font for the headings fits well with the focus on quality and tradition.” Luděk Pikard on UX

Wamag: 2nd place in the Corporate Website/B2B category

“Upon opening the page, it is immediately apparent that the visual communication style is consistent with the logo and builds upon it. (…) Overall, the design is attractive and clear. It catches my attention and entices me to browse further. The user interface is designed in a relatively clean and simple way; it does not hinder content consumption or navigation across the site. The chosen colour scheme brings the page to life nicely.” Jan Patka on the graphics “WAMAG’s website presents a very complex subject matter, yet it is explained concisely and clearly. I have no reservations about the text; I consider it very well done (…). The homepage is also exemplary, where I like the use of a slider to introduce sections, the quantification of the company’s successes, the tab with competencies, and the indicated industry solutions using pictograms. Given the sheer volume of information the website covers, I consider its copywriting to be among the best of the competing websites in this category.” Petr Michl on the content (the content was prepared in-house at WAMAG; we merely adjusted the scope and information architecture).

“The website is well-executed from a technical standpoint, has fairly well-optimised images, feels snappy, sends important HTTP security headers, and uses HTTP/2.” Martin Mayer on the technical solution

Techsoft: 3rd place in the Corporate Website/IT category

“The website is very well executed from a technical perspective. I was pleased to see that it runs exclusively on the secure HTTPS protocol and sends an above-average number of so-called security headers. The website also adapts well to mobile devices and their small screens. Furthermore, it loads reasonably quickly.” Michal Špaček on the technical solution

“A visually appealing homepage design with a clear message about what the company does. Simple main navigation and links to key pages: Portal, Support and Enquiry. The site contains everything important. The main menu highlights the currently visited section. The introductory section of each subpage summarises the offering, whilst the rest of the page elaborates on and clarifies it. Well-chosen typography and tasteful, high-quality photographs that support the company’s activities.” Luděk Pikard on UX

“A very simple and clearly structured website where visitors can quickly find their way around and locate all the necessary information. The navigation is very straightforward and does not confuse users with an unnecessarily complex structure. Visitors are therefore always guided in a clear direction and always know where they are on the site.” Petr Krčmář on content
