Project summary
In collaboration with a partner company, we created a weapon configurator for Česká zbrojovka. Our task was to prepare the project, develop the UX and design, code the application and integrate it with the INFOR back-end system, which was supplied by the partner company.
As part of the Initial Study, we gathered feedback from Česká zbrojovka’s customers, brought a business and marketing perspective to the project, and ensured user-friendliness from a UX/UI standpoint. We subsequently managed the project team using the agile development methodology.

Česká zbrojovka

Česká zbrojovka operates in the field of firearms engineering for the armed forces and police, as well as for sporting and hunting purposes. It also manufactures parts and assemblies for the aerospace and automotive industries, and special tools for the engineering industry.
The company is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of small arms (pistols, rifles, small-calibre rifles, shotguns and air guns), a fact underpinned by sales to around a hundred countries worldwide. It is involved in both development and manufacturing. Since 2017, it has been part of the Česká zbrojovka Group, and its turnover for 2020 reached CZK 4.7 billion.
Assignment
In the arms industry, there is no equivalent of what happened in the automotive industry five to ten years ago – configuring your own car is now the absolute norm, but configuring your own firearm?
Petr Pištělák from Česká zbrojovka, the man behind the idea, suggested that a configurator should be the next step in the arms industry – one that no one in the world has taken yet.
The brief seemed straightforward, yet it was such a fundamental project that it was first necessary to identify the target group’s needs and verify that the arms industry, too, would gradually place greater emphasis on individualism. How much interest would there be in customising firearms?

Project results
The collaboration was a tremendous success and a model of multi-party cooperation. We successfully launched a unique and sophisticated tool that generates profits and data for the client, enabling them to optimize their production costs and strategy.
