The O2 Prague Relay through the eyes of AITOM students

Yesterday we took part in the O2 Prague Relay. Take a look at our photos and read about how the race went.

If you’ve already run the O2 Prague Relay or take part in RunCzech races, you’ll know that you can sign up and ‘run’ on behalf of one of the non-profit organisations. At least 500 CZK from each runner’s registration fee goes towards a good cause. The AITOM team ran for Centrum Paraple, for whom we created a website and whose work we greatly admire.

Our star team consisted of:

Do you think IT people don’t do much sport? That’s not the case at AITOM. The only one of us who runs regularly is Iva. But Michal runs more occasionally, Zdeněk goes inline skating and Pavel plays basketball. But such trifles can’t put us off, because we were running for a good cause.

It was a relay race, 5 km for each of us. Our goal was to complete the whole race in under 2 hours. Our final time was: 2:03:26.

The winner was anyone who actually set off in the tropical heat. Our digital devices read 27°C and the organisers were constantly warning against dehydration.

Nevertheless, the atmosphere at the Exhibition Grounds was brilliant. Part of the race took place in Stromovka Park, with the baton handover happening right in front of the Exhibition Grounds. This is what it looked like just before the start.
