The algorithm, internally known as Jalapeño
The Seznam algorithm, which was launched on 12 May, has been given the internal name Jalapeño. The algorithm involves changing the ranking of search results and prioritising websites with high-quality content. Web spam will now also be penalised. The aim of the new algorithm is to ensure that users find what they were actually looking for. Logically, the change applies to organic search results and does not affect paid results.
Penalisation of web spam
By prioritising original content, the Seznam search engine will now penalise so-called web spam. What is web spam? These are websites created for a specific purpose, with the aim of profiting from redirecting or deceiving users. Examples include sites with PR articles or content farms. The creators of such sites very often try to make money by selling links and advertising space. Users themselves can report sites with poor-quality or suspicious content to Seznam.cz via the feedback form.
