Search engine optimisation is quite a science. A whole range of factors play a part, from content and code to what others say about you. Search Engine Land has put together a periodic table of the web, and we’ve translated it for the layman. The key is always the user; once you’ve fine-tuned your site perfectly for them, search engines are likely to like it too.
EXPLAIN TO ME WHICH ELEMENTS TO OPTIMISE
Which elements influence SEO?
Look at the number in the table of elements. Watch out for the orange elements – note that they have a negative rating in the table. If these elements find their way onto your website, they lower your score and send you far down into the depths of the internet in search results.
Conversely, value all elements marked with 3 and 2 in the table. Try to make the most of these elements when developing your website.
